On July 10th, we will have a Group 1 trip to Billings Lake. This is a fairly easy trail that we have never done before so come explore it with us!
Trail leaders will be Jason and Jim. The group will depart from the Safeway on South Academy promptly at 7:00AM
Attention all CSC4W members who are considering joining our Trail Run this Saturday, July 10, to Billings Lake just west of Salida:
OUR RENDEZVOUS TIME HAS BEEN CHANGED TO 7:00 A.M. AT THE SAFEWAY ON SOUTH ACADEMY AT HWY 115!
This is necessary due to the distance to the trailhead and because the trail, while definitely suitable for Group 1, is fairly bumpy and slow going most of the way. We want to be sure to have enough time to enjoy the lake at the top of the trail. If you have any questions about the trail or the plan for the day, please contact Jim at 719-200-4757 or email@example.com, who will be leading the trail with Jason. If you prefer to go up on your own on Fri and camp, there are several campsites along the trail, and you can meet us at the airdown area where the trail goes from paved surface to dirt at about 9:30 (FRS Channel 7).
If you are interested in camping the night before in that area, the campsites that are right along the trail are: Angel of Shavano Campground (9,100') and North Fork Campground (11,400'). FYI - The North Fork campground is very close to Billings Lake, so if you camp there you have done most of the trail to Billings Lake! They are both first come - first serve campgrounds and are probably best suited for tent camping. There are also some campgrounds along Hwy 50 that would be suitable for RV camping.
Please contact Jim at the contact info above with any questions.
We hope to see you this Saturday!
