Colorado Springs Christian 4-Wheelers

Labor Day Trips

Aug 30th to Sep 3rd

On Labor day weekend, we will have two trips to choose.

Trip 1 will be a unified camping and wheeling trip to Taylor Park area.  Depending on trail conditions, this trip may require you to camp each night and wheel overland during the day.  You may not be able to come back to your camp-site at the end of each day.

The tentative plan is to camp Friday at Dorchester, Saturday,  depart 8:00 a.m. from Dorchester camp ground to run Italian Creek, then camp north of Crested Butte Sat. night. Sunday run will be  Devil's Punchbowl to Crystal Mill, Lead King Basin.

The trip schedule will depend on the conditions of the trails in the area.  Right now, it looks like the Crested Butte trails are still closed and my not be accesible.

Contact Kirk for more details.

Trip 2 will be a trip to Ouray.  You can camp at a number of public and private campgrounds in the Ouray area or stay in a hotel or Bed & Breakfast.

We will meet at 8:00 on Saturday at the Ouray Hot Springs parking lot.  Our plan will depend on the conditions of the trails around Ouray.  Our intent is have a group travel to Poughkeepsie Gulch but that trails is currently closed and may not be open.  If there are folks interested, we will plan to do the "Alpine Loop", but Cinnamon Pass is still sketchy so there may be alternative trips there as well.  The trails we do will depend on the group that is there.

On Sunday, we will meet again at the Hot Springs parking lot at 8:00 and will do the famous Black Bear trail and Imogene Pass.  Again, this will depend on the conditions on Black Bear Pass.  Black Bear is open, but may not be appropriate for the group.  Alternatively, we may do Ophir Pass instead to get to Telluride.

On both days, we will stop along the way for lunch so be sure to bring food and drink for your crew. Your leaders will be Dan Duane and Denny.
